Christmas Open Evening 2014
We held a very successful Christmas Open Evening on 12 November.  As soon as the cafe closed, the volunteers got to work transforming it into a bustling shop - displaying all manner of Christmas items for sale, from mincemeat to calendars; toys to wooden puzzles. Visitors received a warm welcome with a hot mince pie and a cuppa.   Thanks to everyone who supported us.

We were delighted to be joined this year on the night by Rod Patterson (pyrographer) and
Ruth Whenham (local author) whose items regularly feature in our Gift Shop and are still available for you to purchase
Pictured are pencils, key rings, bookmarks and welly clips.  He also has available name plates for doors.

Ruth writes a range of colourful and imaginative books for children - available both in paperback and hardback, they would make an ideal and unique gift for the children in your life.  All books are available from the Jaffa.   Click here to visit Ruth's website and here for her Facebook page.

Christmas Shopping Evening 2015

We held our annual Christmas Shopping Evening on 11 November.  It was well supported and we hope that everyone found some unusual presents, while enjoying the tea and mince pies on offer!

We were pleased that Janice Elliott, local wildlife photographer (whose work is on sale in the Gallery) was on hand to talk to people about her stunning photographs.  She also had several examples of her work with her to show to visitors. Local artists/crafts people also had their items on display as well as items sold for various charities.

We are pleased to report that we were awarded a five-star ***** rating for our food hygiene by Bedford Borough Council's Environmental Services, in partnership with the Food Standards Agency.  The certificate is now displayed on the Cafe door for everyone to see!

We were pleased to receive a Certificate of Commendation in the Winifred Fowler Community Award in 2013.  We were thrilled that the winner of the Award supplies the Jaffa with items which he collects himself from Ghana - all on a voluntary basis.

2012 was indeed a year for celebration!  And while Britain was busy celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and The Olympic and Paralympic Games, we had something of our own to celebrate.  We were 10 years old!  Who could have thought that from small beginnings we would be where we are today!   Read all about our "History in the Making" by clicking on one of the links below.
